Avro Lancaster bomber embarks on U.K. tour
Canada’s last airworthy Avro Lancaster bomber is set to embark on one of the most eagerly anticipated journeys of its post-service history, as it heads to UK for a six-week tour. CBC Hamilton brings you the latest from the flyer's journey.

God Speed Avro Lancaster Mk X! I can only imagine how thrilling it must be to be 'surely skipping the bonds of earth' in that miracle aircraft. My deceased and beloved Dad, "Skipper", William Robert ("Bill") Brennan & his lifelong pal, Air Bomber James Wilson "Jim" O'Driscoll of Lanc ME647 are thrilled to be on board with you in the form of the 3 photos you graciously allowed to fly with you on this historic flight to the UK Tour 2014. Thank YOU and thank you, Tim O'Driscoll (Jim's son), for arranging their final flight...together...on our Dads' (and yours) beloved aircraft. August 8th (tomorrow) is the first Anniversary of Jim's passing (my Dad passed on March 10, 2007). I can't think of a finer place they both could be. There is comfort in the fact that Dad and Jim (& the crew) are together...at last. God bless you and keep you all safe on the rest of your journey. God bless all the men & women who fought so hard for the next generations to be free. God bless the many who lost their lives doing so. "And they will raise you up on eagles' wings...". Although the Lancaster didn't take off today, the event attracted large crowd both to the museum and to its social media account.
Social media co-ordinator David Hills tells me the museum's Twitter account @CWHM gained more than a thousand followers over the past week and more than 200 new followers today.
You can use the hashtag #Lanc2UK to follow its journey on social media.
