CBC Forum: How important is it for Canada to produce its own food?

  • Locally produced food is desireable, but it is not possible for every country to be self-sufficient in food production. Even the United States, with more favorable growing conditions, is not self sufficient.

    We now have a world economy, and regional markets such as the NAFTA group. There is nothing wrong with importing food from Mexico and exporting other products in xchange.
