John's Weather Journal May 17
Yes, a cloudy start to the day as expected but the clouds are thinning to the north so we’ll see some hints of sunshine later in the day and certainly through the evening hours.

It’ll be chilly today though with a high of just 12 degrees in the afternoon and winds gusting to 60km/h.
It’s looking dry heading into the long weekend. I do see a disturbance that will track through Minnesota delivering a soaking rain on Saturday.
The northern end of that system will bring showers to the southeast corner of the province Saturday afternoon and evening. Some of that rain may make it up into the Red River Valley for Saturday evening.
Saturday is a mostly cloudy day and we’ll have to watch for that rain later in the day, especially in the cottage country to the east, but also as far northwest as Winnipeg.
Then Sunday starts to clear in the afternoon in the southeast, while the southwest enjoys a sunny day and temps in the 20s.
Keep this in mind as we head into the May Long Weekend, we’ve had everything from torrential rain to snow in past years. I’ll keep you posted on the track of that rain.
