John Sauder weather blog Live

John Sauder, CBC's meteorologist in Manitoba, keeps track of weather moving across the province.

  • It's a hazy sunshine. I've been forecasting a 29 degree high for today and I like to stick to the number if it makes sense. The haze, however, may just shave a couple of digits off that high temp. We'll see.

Another clipper low pushes across the southern portion of the province into Friday so expect increasing cloud overnight and some showers or thunderstorms by early morning on Friday. The northern edge of that band of rain will generally be the Trans-Canada highway.

It may look like a wash-out early on Friday for some, but hang in there, the afternoon brings some sun and a high of 27 or so. It's generally unstable late Friday so we have a strong chance for some nocturnal thunderstorms into Saturday morning.

Here's a look at Futurecast for the overnight period Friday into Saturday.

Saturday afternoon sees the redevelopment of scattered showers in the afternoon. Highs will be cooler at 23 or so. Sunday is the sunnier day of the weekend.
