Believe it or not, as of noon, we have a fairly sunny sky. Problem is, smoke is wofting southeast from fires in northern Alberta, and the NW Territories. Expect this hazy condition on and off over the next few days.
Maybe some rain would help that situation. I do see a band of rain west of the Red River Valley heading northeast. Expect a chance of a shower this afternoon here but a higher chance tonight and into Wednesday morning.
Most of the rain will drop during the first half of Wednesday, tapering to showers later in the day. We’ll likely see clearing in the afternoon to the west side of the province and in the evening in the RRV.
By Thursday, we are back under the influence of high pressure and back into sunshine and warmer temps. That starts a stretch of dry weather which will be good for harvesting.

Another mainly sunny day is what I’m expecting for Monday. Temps will be up around 28 or 29 this afternoon across the south.
There is a change coming, but it will be short-lived.
Mid week, there is a low scooting up through the Dakotas into Minnesota that will spread some rain into southern Manitoba late Tuesday into Wednesday.

It’s an extended dry stretch here across the south. Mid to upper 20s is what to expect over the weekend.
What stands out to me over the next few days is the lack of wind. High pressure will stall over southern Manitoba and bring sunny, warm conditions with fairly light winds through the weekend and into next week.
The next chance for rain that I see is on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Some of those could be storms.
Behind that system, we don’t really even cool down much.Wind Forecast for Winnipeg

Yesterday’s rain was a good thing. Hopefully it was enough but, from what I’m hearing, likely not. We are still very dry in the southeast and heading into another extended dry stretch.
What stands out to me over the next four days is the lack of wind. High pressure will stall over southern Manitoba and bring sunny, warm conditions with fairly light winds right through the weekend.Temps will start to creep up into the upper 20s by the weekend as well.
The next chance for rain that I see is on Tuesday night into Wednesday.

John's Weather Journal for August 9th
Is it me or does it seem like Wednesdays lately are the cool and wet days? Well, that’s what today is and we did expect it.
After today, high pressure settles in for the rest of the week and weekend. It’ll be back to dry, sunny conditions with seasonal temps through into next week.
We do need the moisture across the south, but especially in the southeast. Fields are dry and the grass is getting crunchy.Wind Forecast for Winnipeg
