A heat warning is in effect for the eastern prairies including much of southern Manitoba thanks to an upper level ridge in place over western Canada. Here in southern Manitoba, a heat warning is issued when we are expecting at least 2 consecutive days with highs of 32 degrees or higher and lows of 16 degrees or higher - OR - 2 days in a row with an expected humidex of 38 or higher. We certainly qualify.
There is a chance (small chance) for a thunderstorm to roll through the Interlake and northern Red River Valley toward the early morning hours of Thursday. It'll clear quickly Thursday morning leaving us with another sunny and hot day.
The more organized system moves in Friday with a good chance for afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
Into the weekend, skies clear again on Saturday and there is a chance of a few showers on Sunday afternoon but temps are close to or just above the seasonal normals.

We will be close to heat warning criteria over the next few days but even if we don't see a warning issued, it'll still be hot. We'll be in the 30s Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in southern Manitoba. Heat warning criteria for southern MB is at least 2 consecutive days with highs of  32 or higher and lows of 16 or higher - OR - 2 days with humidex values of 38 or higher.
We also have a couple of weak disturbances moving through that may provide a brief shower overnight Wednesday into Thursday and again on Thursday evening. Those are pretty insignificant.
Another disturbance on Friday may bring a more organized shower or t-storm to the region in the afternoon or evening.
Right now, it looks like the best chance of a shower on the weekend would be on Sunday.

We start the week with very stable weather and building heat across the eastern prairies. Heat warning criteria may be met through Tuesday/Wednesday but the overnight lows are falling below the threshold so we may not see a warning. Still hot over the next couple of days though. There are a couple of weak disturbances moving through this week that may provide a sprinkle or two. That would be Wednesday evening and again on Thursday in the afternoon and evening. Most of that appears to form from the Red River Valley east.

As I write this, there are no watches or warnings in effect for severe storms. That may change as the day wears on and as a line of showers moves west to east across the southern part of the province today.
We've had a nice rain shower here in the Winnipeg region and through the Interlake. There is more rain upstream so if you are headed out somewhere this afternoon, have the umbrella handy.
Showers with a risk of a thunderstorm will be the order of the day and the evening.
From about the Red River Valley east, we will still have a few showers on Friday morning followed by late afternoon or evening clearing.
The weekend looks fairly dry with temps only slightly off the seasonal mark. Expect gusty conditions on Saturday and breezy conditions on Sunday.
Keeping an eye on our neighbours in Red Lake Ontario and I do see a soaking rain heading that way later tonight. Hopefully it won't be accompanied by lightning.
