Be careful on your morning commute today! Winnipeg streets are quite slippery, due to some rain/snow followed by a freeze-up last night. Side streets are especially slick, and highway crews are out sanding and salting the Perimeter right now.
While it feels a lot more like winter today, more than a dozen Manitoba communities broke heat records yesterday with temperatures above 0 C. Yesterday's hot spot was Emerson, where the mercury hit a balmy 7.9 C.

Evander Kane put the Jets on the board first. It's 1-0 Winnipeg. Jets trying to redeem themselves after losing their last game at home against the Pens 4-1.

Winnipeg firefighters are battling a fire at an apartment at 817 St. Paul Avenue. Arlington St is closed between St. Matthews and Portage; as well as Burnell between St. Matthews and Portage is closed in both directions until further notice. It appears no one was injured in the blaze. Our Ismaila Alfa is at the scene.

Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien and his girlfriend Emily Hendry welcomed their first baby, a girl, early Wednesday evening. Head coach Claude Noel has confirmed that Kira Rae was born around 6 p.m., weighing in at about seven pounds, one ounce.
Byfuglien won't be playing in tonight's game against the L.A. Kings due to a lower-body injury, Noel added.
