Hey everyone. I'll be moderating today's live chat and asking our guests a few questions.
Hi all! I'll be pitching in on the business side – trying to answer any questions you folks have about the state of the seniors care business in B.C.
Welcome Joel. Thanks for joining us.
Great question. David and Margaret will log on shortly. Joel, what did you come across in your research?
Hi LS! There are a lot of concerns about whether private care providers are held to the same standards. However, are facilities that provide residential care and assisted living care, whether public or private, are subject to the same regulations.
The real issue is whether those regulations are enough, and the BC Ombudsperson pointed out in her recent report that there is inadequate oversight of assisted living operators and facilities. The report also pointed out that care facilities fall under two regulatory regimes, and even the health authorities each have their own set of rules.
