I was a little surprised Canada managed only 3 goals. History suggests Canada sometimes plays down to the level of lesser teams at the Olympics
Yes he was on the 4th line, but he was also on the first power play unit. Babcock has been known to make line adjustments as the tournament progresses. I think Tavares is a candidate to move up a line or two.
I agree. Would love to see the defence join the rush more. Would also like to see Canadian players shoot in tight instead of passing and looking for the perfect goal.
No. Canada will dress Smith so if they win the gold medal, he will get one.
Agree. I have applied to play Game 2 on the Getzlaf line. Haha. Actually, it might be nice to see Tavares on that line.
Would like to see St. Louis on Crosby's line. Wouldn't mind seeing Tavares with Getzlaf/Perry.
Bergeron is a great 'team' player at Olympics. Makes solid contributions despite little ice time (10:59) He was also 75% on his faceoffs.
If it gets great goaltending. Norway doesn't have much offence to speak of
True. Keep in mind, in 2002, Canada lost opener to Sweden and tied Germany in preliminary round and won the gold medal.
It is a building process. That said, I expect a little more from Crosby and Getzlaf in Game 2. They are the two guys who should be igniting the offence
Disagree with you. P.K, could have sparked Canada today. I would love to see him in Game 2. He brings energy to the table.
Could replace Benn or Carter. Canada could have used his speed against Norway.
By the way, I'm not down on Benn or Carter, but somebody has to come out of the lineup for others to get in.
A little of both. I think any goalie playing for Canada would have fallen asleep in that game, though
Probably a little bored. Goalies generally like to face more shots.
Agree. It was a step in the right direction.
He probably will. That's what he does.
Agree. I actually think that has the potential to be a thrilling game.
Probably trying to suck Canada into retaliating and taking penalties. Also, that's what teams with no offence do. They play defence and they hit
I believe both players will make positive impact for Canada in the tournament.
Again, that is what teams that can't score do -- they defend. Makes for boring games
I just started a sentence with 'Again.." Being hanging around Randy Carlyle too much
Alright, time for one more question!
A lot of people feel that way because players today are bigger and faster. However, when I speak with NHL scouts who watch a lot of games on big ice in Europe, they feel the games often become too defensive and boring.
Thanks for joining me in chat. We will be doing it again Friday after Canada beats, er, plays Austria
Thanks for your questions everyone! Tune into the game vs. Austria tomorrow and have your questions ready.
